Hi guys!! I bought the RS Pro 404 last night, my first scanner. I've read the owners manual about a thousand times and played around with it last night and today for a while. I'm picking up police in about 3 counties, NOAA of course, some HAM operators and I think a Skywarn channel that I programmed in.
I need some 'forest for the trees' help here. Can somebody tell me if I'm on the right track?
There are preprogrammed 'service bank' buttons along the top. I can scan each of those and pick up different active frequencies within the preprogrammed ranges it was set with, right?
Then there are the channels I programmed in and set to different channels and the scanner is dividing those into a different kind of 'bank'. (numbers 1-10, 20 channels per bank)
So if I push the service bank icon buttons then I'm scanning only those preprogrammed frequencies but if I just push the SCAN button then I'm scanning MY programmed channels numbers 1-200? only?
So if all that is right then how do I just scan everything to try and pick up active frequencies for all kinds of other stuff? Is there a way to just scan everything that is out there instead of the stuff that I already programmed? I know there is because the manual had some instructions for stopping on a 'found' frequency and adding it to my programmed channels but it wasn't clear on how to do that type of wholesale scanning to start with.
Lord all that barely makes sense to me. Good luck to the old pros helping me out...LOL
